Yesterday the team behind Welcome HomeLess received a letter from the Secretary General of the European Parliament, Klaus Welle. He was happy to inform us that he would give us permission to hold the Welcome HomeLess exhibition on the premises of the European Parliament in January 2010.

Unemloyment in Europe peaks (August 6th 2009) 
Unemployment in the European Member States has gone up and has now reached the highest point this year, and new results from Eurostat shows that inflation has changed to deflation too.

During the last two days the Council of Ministers for Employment and Social Affairs has had an informal meeting in Jönköbing, Sweden, regarding the subject of labour market inclusion.
The Swedish Minister for Employment Sven Otto Littorin chairs the meeting, and the Ministers for employment and Social Affairs are mainly discussing how to promote employment through more inclusive labour markets and active social security policies.

Young EU citizens are invited to share their message on fighting poverty through a music contest organised by the European Commission’s co-operation office EuropeAid.
The music contest has been launched in the frame of the ‘I Fight Poverty’ campaign launched in late 2008.

Free movement and residence rights (July 7th 2009) 
“The freedom to live and work abroad is one of the cornerstones of the European Union" stated Vice-President Jacques Barrot, Commissioner in charge of Justice, Freedom and Security.
July 2nd 2009 the Commission adopted guidelines for better application of the 2004 Directive on the right of EU citizens and their families to move and reside freely. The guidelines clarify the rights of EU citizens and their family members and offer assistance to Member States on the measures they can take to tackle criminality, abuse and marriages of convenience.

Wonderful tourism (July 7th 2009)
A large and important part of Welcome HomeLess is visibility and reaching out to the citizens of Europe, and the best way for Welcome HomeLess and our NGO partners to make sure that all the sculptures are placed in the right spots is to ask the right people.
June 15th – 20th the pan-European touring exhibition was presented to tourist organisations from 132 major cities in 32 European countries.
